Comments: My old pal Froddie, a young hippo cub who got too close. The Game warden had to warn the park rangers of this fella, because he got to close to the safari boats, and posed a danger to humans. I have no clue what happened to him, but he wasn’t suppose to get so close, five meters from the boat I was sitting in.

Comments: I’m heading off for Zambia and Botswana in the next 36 hours. Hopefully some of my old friends will be waiting there. Chobe and the areas of Okavango (Botswana) and Hwange (Zimbabwe) have the highest densitiy of elephants in the world. with approx 60 000 elephants. This is the only place in the world where the declining population of elephants are in abundance. I just can’t wait to capture these majestic and wise animals on silicon again soon. Watching them play and swim in the Chobezi, auxiliary to the great Zambezi, is one of the great pleasures in this world. And for a book read, I recommend Peter Mathiesens beautiful and tragic book on the African elephants, African Silences.

Comments: I’m heading for Africa, but today’s image takes me back to what used to be the jungles of Northern Thailand. The Elephants came walking along the river bed, and I found myself suddenly in the forests of Kiplings and Disney’s Jungle Book from Childhood. An ordinary image with spectacular memories. I’m publishing this image because of the memories, and because a colleague told me today that this was one of his favorite images. Him on that.

Deadline is set for November 30, which is over 14 days from now, days I’ll be spending in Southern Africa. Hopefully I’ll bring back some bright images to lighten up dark days and nights.

Spread the word. For November I’m hopping for at least ten participants.
